I received this bird feeder with camera, and it’s honestly one of the most impressive all-around products I’ve come across on Amazon and Vine. The workmanship of the feeder itself, the build quality, the camera, and even the app all feel well thought out and executed. It’s quickly become something I look forward to checking every day. We’re not what you’d call “birders.” We’re not out there logging species or identifying calls — I couldn’t tell you the difference between a robin and a chickadee by sound. We just enjoy the fact that a lot of different birds pass through our backyard. From crows (which I always treat with respect) to what seems like a neighborhood-wide robin meetup at dusk, it’s fun to watch. But, just like Schrödinger’s cat, the act of observing them usually changes their state — meaning they leave the property. That’s where this feeder comes in.Being able to watch them without disturbing anything is a completely different experience. You start to notice how they interact, which ones dominate, and just general behavior you’d never see otherwise. Even our dogs get into it when we cast the camera feed to the TV — and if the dogs were actually in the yard, they’d immediately scare the birds away.Placement took some thought. It needed good sun exposure for the solar panel, but also had to be positioned high enough to keep squirrels and a neighbor’s hunting cat from turning it into an easy buffet. We ended up mounting it to a pole attached to a sail awning, which required a slightly different setup than what was included. That process actually gave me a chance to really look over the construction, and it’s solid. The feeder itself is made from bamboo, which should hold up well outdoors. The seed hopper is easy to access by flipping open the hinged roof, and the camera sits in its own little enclosure with another hinged door. Everything is held shut with strong neodymium magnets that feel like they’ll hold up just fine in wind and weather. The perch extends out nicely but can be folded in when needed, which is a nice touch. The camera is better than I expected. It reminds me of something like an Arlo in terms of quality. The waterproofing is especially well done — the SD card slot, power switch, and charging port are all sealed behind a cover that locks down tightly when the solar panel is connected. There aren’t any obvious gaps where water could sneak in. It also supports local storage via SD card, which means you don’t need a cloud subscription just to review footage later. The only real downside is the AI bird identification feature being locked behind a subscription. It’s not required to use the product, and personally I’m more interested in watching than identifying, but it’s something to be aware of if that feature matters to you.⸻Bottom Line:✅ Excellent build quality — feeder and camera both feel premium✅ Thoughtful design with solid weatherproofing✅ Solar panel keeps the camera powered✅ Local storage option — no subscription required for basic use✅ Great for observing wildlife without disturbing it✘ AI bird identification requires a paid subscriptionThis is one of those rare products that actually delivers across the board. Whether you’re into bird watching or just want a unique way to observe your backyard, it’s well worth it.
